Inspiration - Christine Berrie

This Image of a television feels very personal in its approach. The pencil crayon style gives a very personal style, I need to investigate into more materials and techniques to create more interesting imagery.

I really like how Christine Berrie has made a collection to create more interesting imagery. The imagery feels very personal to every object being drawn. I will be taking the influence of collection of imagery into my Illustration practice.

Habitat Plates

I really like the Illustration used on these plates. Using simple elements of Imagery and combining them.

Here I have looked at some of the design work that is available in Habitat. I have research into the Illustration onto products, this has enabled me to have a knowledge of the kinds of goods sold in mainstream design shops.

Develop Illustrations further, showing more interaction possibly placed back into the room situation.

Produce a series of prints for each object in the room to be catalogued/sold?

I have taken inspiration from some of Illustration I have been looking at. Using only black and white colour combinations to create my imagery. I feel now that I have to develop this style of imagery, trying stoke combinations to create more interesting pieces.

Lined and Unlined Brief - Object of Desire, Brief 2

Create a product catalog for an object from the future. This should be an object that you will desire, but it may be anything from an overpriced luxury item to an essential tool for surviving 10 to 20 years from now. Use your imagination. The market for this product will be an important consideration. Your catalog should be largely image-driven and should use minimal text. It should pursuade, convince, and seduce us.

You may choose any format other than A5 for this project. Consider what is most appropriate for what you’re selling. It may be color or black and white, but should be no more than 24 pages in length including cover. It need not show the object of desire you’re marketing.

There is an additional requirement. The majority of the images and words in your catalog must be comprised of images, quotes, or lists developed by your fellow classmates for the “+ 10 to 20” project. You may add a few images and some new writing where necessary, but the best projects will make as much use of the existing class archive as possible.

WEEK 1: Bring in a sketch of your catalog for critique. I will critique these sketches in small groups.

WEEK 2: Bring in a bound, refined version of your catalog for critique. In addition, create a single- and double-page A4 versions of a magazine ad for your product.

Inspiration - Hayon Studios

Illustration from Jaime Hayon. This type of Illustration is very appealing in the types of imagery I want to produce. The use of line quality is very prominent within the illustration, using different stroke styles. I feel that the fluid movements within the lines make the image very magical.

Jaime Hayon has taken raw material such as ceramics and crystal, and used these objects to create interesting forms. Theses forms of objects reinterpret his style of Illustration, making his Illustration style fit with the object.

These ideas from Hayon Studio are a large influence on the type of work I want to produce throughout my FMP. The magical Illustration working with interesting forms, this idea is something i want to take into consideration.

Inspiration - Herbert Baglione

Herbert Baglione is a street artist from Sao Paolo Brazil. He has a very distinctive style of work, using a black palette to create the majority of his imagery. He uses the human figure in a very dramatic way, showing obesity and anorexia. This I feel is trying to relate to human imperfections and extremes.

Looking at Herbert Baglione, I want my Illustration practice to develop and  become more magical and have a fantasy essence within it. I have seen a lot of illustrators who play on fantasy within design, I feel that this approach creates really open and imaginative imagery.

Inspiration - Andrew Holder

Andrew Holders Illustration uses a lot of media. The basis of his work is around screen printing. I love the use of layering in his work, using appropriate colour to overlay pieces of imagery.
Here Andrew Holder has taken his Illustration practice and has adapted it onto 3D structures. I really like his take on having dear heads on the wall, creating a more contemporary piece of artwork.

Lined and Unlined Brief

I have found a brief that may help me to gather imagery.
Design a mail-order catalog for the sale of everything in your bedroom.

Inspiration - Rob Ryan; Paul Smith Plates

These are plate designs done by the Illustrator Rob Ryan. I really love how he uses black and white effectively to create an image of fantasy. He has adapted his style of illustration really well to this particular product.
